Observations on
the Definitions
of Euclid
— Stone's Euclid

not more
than two of its sides are equal
to each other nor of its five angles
Note. This is called rhomboides — the
termination oides in Greek meaning
similitude see — that with he delineated
in presentation view of the characteristic
difference by which the rhombus is most
obviously distinguished from the square.
It is to a rhombus what the oblong is
to the square.
34. Unobjectionable. All five-sided
figures besides these are called hipenium,
&c it. The sides & angles may
have any relation to each other. The word
hipenium in Greek signifies a table.
35. What lines are parallel to each other
or how it is that such parallels may
be secured cannot any ; be properly expounded
till the mode of constructing two
lines such as bear this relation to one
another has been described: in this case
in the same manner as in the case of
an equilateral triangle formed as
per proposition the first by means of
two circles: or say in which two circles
are employed in & are requisite to the
formation of it
Operations performed that may be performed & which are assumed
that he may be performed on the occasion & for the
purpose of the delineation of the second figures
treated of in these elements.
