by our Company it would be a most consequential acquisition. Viewing
matters however in the present state the Exports certainly
might be much greater than they have hitherto been for the
following reasons.
For many years past our Tonnage at China in proportion
to the rest of Europe might be considered to have been 8000
to 16000 Tons; but from our now supplying ourselves with tea
in place of Foreigners, our tonnage will probably be in futrure
as 18000 to 6000; so allowing that the Foreign ships carried before
a proportionable Tonnage to us in Goods, they of course will
now decrease their Exports from Europe in the same Ratio as
their Tonnage. Our Exports before appeared about £150,000; they
therefore should be increased in proportion to the Augmentation
afour Tonnage or to £201,250 which we may reckon to realize
