Regulations for the Honourable Company's Weavers

Whereas various Regulartions have at different times,
been made particularly on the 5th September 1775 and 22nd April
1782 for securing the Company agreeably to justice and long
established right, the labours of the manufacturers engag'd
to them.
And Whereas complaints notwithstanding still
continued of hindrances, in this respect from the interference
of native Collators. the processes of the County Courts, the dishonesty
of the manufacturers themselves,and the interloping
of other traders, or their Agents, in order to obviate the
inconveniences now felt, and to confirm the right of manufacturers
and purchasers of every denomination. the
following Regulations comprehending those formerly pass'd
and hereby laid down —

Weavers employed by the Company shall (in common with
all other riots of the Provinces) pay nothing on the sure
of rent beyond what is specified in their Pottahs, which
are to be framed according to the stated established dues of Government,
they shall be subjected to no arbitarry occasional
tax of Zemindars, Farmers, or Collectors on any account
whatsoever —

No Weavers employed by 2 the Company shall be confined by
any Zemindar, or other person, engaged in the collection of
the Revenues, nor harassed with Peons or Summons, either
in revenue or judicial matters, to their butcherries. The mode of
