The Letter I wrote to you was sent to the Post, at
noon, of the Day on which I reced your's in the afternoon —
otherwise it wod have been in answer to your's, but
however it served yr purposes as well in some respects
as mine was in a manner prophetic of the Contents of
yours, with which I was much pleas'd, as I cou'd not
but approve of your Conduct with respect to the Builder,
and was glad of the opportunity he gave you of convincing
him qh. you knew so much of what he had all along
entertained an opinion you was, in a manner, wholly
ignorant. he is certainly a poor Creature, illeberal to
the last degree, narrow in his Ideas, & timid, to a
degree— I wish much to know what further notice
he has taken of you, & whether you can get him to
make a Drawing of one of the Ships upon the Stocks instead
of a mere Copy of your Draftwing — I hope he has given you
an advantage enough of him, to get him to comply
with such a Proposition — he must be a weak man indeed
to consider the business of the mold Loft as a mystery
