Hond Sir

At this present time I am at Sea I know not how far but
I hope not above 15 miles from Helvoetsluys. When I send you
this I shall be able to tell you of my arrival there.

to Petersburgh. I have with me a cloak bag containing one good
coat 10 Shirts & stocks as many Sockings & handkerchiefs a pair or
two of Shoes and a few other odd matters and my letters of recommendation
of the latter my brother will have sent you some account. I was
doubting for some time how I should carry my letters but I at last concluded
that it was best they should be exposed rather to the same than
