I should certainly have wished this man to go to London on
purpose to see you before his return: but as the distance
from Edinburgh is so great and he will have no other business
whatever there I think he should not run the risk of losing
his passage this year by taking such a journey.
What I have to tell you, Sir, of myself is very little
at present: but I am in expectation of being a little
more settled in the course of a few months than I have
hitherto been. The Situation of this place affords opportunities
of exercising 2 or 3 different kinds of commerce which
promise to be very advantageous, and I seem to be now on the
point of engaging in them in a manner which will put an end
to the trust which the Prince reposed on me here which on the
present plan has too much the appearance of a Stewardship.

which I may probably take on my own account with such assistance
of money and priveledges as will insure their success.
As I have not as yet heard directly from him on the subject
I shall not tell you any particulars least some incident
may come across to change the plan. My Brother's assistance
just at this time would be of great service; but so I trust
it will at any time when he comes.
Since my last letter the number of English at this place
are encreased. Besides Mr Benson who brought me your
