I am very much concerned, My dear Sir, that
you should have so greatly over-rated my poor, incompleat
services, as to have bestowed a thought on them after you
left us. Permit me, however, to thank you for the Ream
of excellent Paper you have been so kind to send me, although
I cannot help lamenting that I so unwarily asked
where it was bought.

We have set all our Engines to work, & dispersed
Letters amongst our Friends, in behalf of the young person
you mention, & whose Letter to Milord Benetham
we have sent to our Friend Mrs Este of Queen Square,
as a recommendation, & specimen of excellent writing,
after the French manner. She would be an acquisition
to any Parent, who makes French one of the principal
objects of a Daughter's education, as her language and
orthography are correct; & I believe there is not be found
one French woman, or man in a hundred who can spell their mother
tongue. Notwithstanding which, they have the confidence
to come to England, illiterate as they are, & set up for
