<p>I forced the Military <unclear>Instruments</unclear> transferred to Prince<lb/>
Dashkoff, and I was glad of it, It would have been all out of<lb/>
my Brother's pocket, used a Master to teach <unclear>them</unclear> would have<lb/>
Cost £40, or £50. Dashkoff has a Capital Master, and my<lb/>
Brother can at any time send a sufficient number of men<lb/>
to learn of him, at little or no Expence. This Plan I shall<lb/>
promote.</p>


<p>We had begun and almost finished measuring the Land<lb/>
in the Peninsula, called Ladobras, but the wetting of the snows<lb/>
and consequent overflowing of a considerable part of it<lb/>
obliged us to suspend our operations; as soon as the<lb/>
waters have subsided, which had it not been for some<lb/>
unusual heavy rains, they would have by this time,<lb/>
we think to finish. a Description, without a Plan<lb/>
would convey a very imperfect Idea.</p>
<p>The following is a Copy of Prince Potemkin's Letter<lb/>
to my brother.</p>

aux demandes de votre Lettre de trois mois de cette Année<lb/>
la raison est, que comptant bientôt partir, J'aime mieux<lb/>
<unclear>Sufferer</unclear> la decision de ces Arrangemens jusqu'a mon<lb/>
arrivée a Critchoff. Je vous prie donc de m'attendre<lb/>
et d'etre persuadé de Gentiere devouement, avec l'equall<lb/>
J'ai l'honneur d'etre parfaitment, monsieur<lb/>
votre tres humble et tres<lb/>
