This Gentleman is now only 30 years old. He explored
great part of Siberia at the age of 20. His Report of that
Country pleased her Majesty so much that he has
now the Command of Two Battallions and a Commission
to go where He will upon Discovery, even to pass the
Frontiers any where. He has Six English Sailors who
are now upon an Expedition to find a Passage from
Tobolsky to Archangel another Party of People in the
Chinese Tartary. He and I set out tomorrow with
a proper Guard into the mountainous Country of the
Kirgees Tartars which has never been explored, in
Search of Minerals; (from the Specimen the neighbouring
Nations have bought him there is a prospect of
something. These People are famous for Horses & Cattle
great numbers of both come into Russia every year.
