Radicalism not dangerous
§.*3 6
iii Experience II. Ireland
(5) (1) 6 §.2. Democratic ascendency established
Volunteers = Universalists
So much as to non-freemen: now as to Catholics. Lord
Sheffield will here be of great use to us. On this hand Valuable is the information
for which we are indebted to Lord Sheffield: abounding
with information of detail on every subject of which he treats, and
as he himself informs us + + himself at least as much of an Irishman as of an
Englishman; his opinion and affection and declared opinion actually
adverse to parliamentary reform must on that account
his facts the more valuable. Antecedently to the dictum
of the system, which change a change commenced even after the peace of
1783 they were "already half (he says) + of those there that latterly appeared
"in arms; in a year or less he adds, they might be
" free to arms"
