the state of things actually accomplished in Ireland at the time

state of things proposed now to be established in Great
Britain and Ireland under that same name.

Yet it was under the present sense of this oppression, that
for the purpose of relief democratical ascendency will be
soon established in Ireland, without producing preponderant evil in any shape not less and having place for about
than five years: the oppression in consequence in past removed
and no ill injurious use made of the power acquired and so
long possessed by the body of the people: in particular no
vengeance exercised as the oppressors. The Monarch
and his servants all the time regarding with a mixture of
hatred and fear and hatred which was done and for a great
part of the time, doing all that it could for the purpose of stopping
it, and regaining
the ascendency. This
a matter of notoriety:
yet no hostility against
the Government exercised.
