<p>The accountant is required to state under what authority<lb/> the expenses were incurred by him in preparations for an<lb/> intended Penitentiary Establishment, and whether the contract<lb/> relating to the same (the Draft of which are laid before the<lb/> Committee of Finance & reported by them in their 28th Report)<lb/> has since been duly executed, and if so, he is required to<lb/> produce the same. He is also required to state whether<lb/> he has received any assurances of the intention of the Lord<lb/> Commissioners of the Treasury, to carry the original plan<lb/> of erecting Penitentiary Houses into execution and to transmit<lb/> to this Office the originals or authenticated copies<lb/> of any Letters <add>or communication</add> he may have received from the Treasury<lb/> on the subject.</p> | |||
