<p>In proposing the making this provision<lb/>for the subsistence of persons under the predicaments<lb/>in question I have hitherto for simplicity's<lb/>sake excluded all alternatives and modifications.<lb/>But the business is mainly to take<lb/>such precaution as shall <del>b</del> appear to be sufficient<lb/>in order to ensure their having an honest <sic>livelyhood</sic>:<lb/>if then that security can be obtained by<lb/>any other means, it is sufficient; and the<lb/>milder the means, <del>the better,</del> and therefore the<lb/>more numerous the alternatives, the better. Satisfying

sake excluded all alternatives and modifications.
But the business is mainly to take
such precaution as shall b appear to be sufficient

if then that security can be obtained by
any other means, it is sufficient; and the

any body reputable responsible person be a security, to a certain amount

to find him employment for a certain time?
