Many of these are very wretched compilations.
There are a great multitude of books of this kind
in London: many of them very wretched compilations.
What there is material in them might be brought into
a tolerably narrow compass, and afforded cheap: the
articles should all of them be referred to the original
documents from which they were compiled. Among
the most valuable of these is are The discoveries of
Poulter alias Baxter, of which there have been 16
editions in the compass of six and twenty years.
I know not whether books of this kind are to be
met with in other the capitals , of other nations. With
little variation they might be as useful in one
country as in another.
