I have for some da time been occupied in penning
answers and to with observations to the pap on Mr Chief Inspector's
paper of Queries dated the 10th of March last, and transmitted to me for the second
time by Your letter of the 24 June. last: and if
I had had before me the several papers instead of
troubling you with this letter exp I should now in
the course of a very few two or three be in a condition to
transmitt send it back once more with my answers &c
as above. But
What occasions my troubling you with the present
address is this. In Mr Chief Inspectors paper,
in the article marked Query the 3d observations are
contained having for their subject the papers time
of certain of the papers that had been transmitted by me
to serve as Vouchers for what that article in my
account which in his paper under the head of Description
of the Voucher, is termed Item the 2d (Paid
Mess:rs Booth and Co for cast iron £1751.11s.9d.)
On these observations I have been making my observations:
but c not having preserved copies of these papers, Vouchers
nor having any in every instance sufficiently distinct recollection of the
contents, I found that in speaking the number made of them I could dr speak no otherwise
than speak hypothetically, subject to the a continual hazard of
mis stating them mis-statements, from which howsoever mis-statement
as a delay confusion and delay would be
but too natural a result
