<p>On the 7th inst the debate was continued on the<lb/> | |||
law of the Press, when articles 6, 7 and 8, were discussed &<lb/> | |||
agreed to, as were likewise articles 9 & 10. On the 8th inst<lb/> | |||
permission was granted to two Members from the Colonies<lb/> | |||
to return home on account of their health. Two Resolutions<lb/> | |||
were then proposed & adopted.—1. That the preparatory<lb/> | |||
Meetings of the two Cortes being about to take place, the present<lb/> | |||
should close their labours. 2. That a Commission should<lb/> | |||
be appointed to represent to His Majesty the mode & the<lb/> | |||
time of doing so. The discussion was again resumed on the<lb/> | |||
law of the Press, when five more of its articles were debated &<lb/> | |||
disposed of. Before the conclusion of the Sitting, the Commission<lb/> | |||
appointed to inquire into the mode & time of terminating<lb/> | |||
the present Session of the Cortes delivered their<lb/> | |||
Report. The following three articles contain the opinion of<lb/> | |||
the Commission:—<lb/> | |||
1. That it may be decreed that the Extraordinary Cortes close<lb/> | |||
their Session on the 14th instant.<lb/> | |||
2. That in conformity with the rules of the Cortes a Deputation<lb/> | |||
of 22 Members may be appointed to communicate to his<lb/> | |||
Majesty that on the said Day the present Cortes end their labours.<lb/> | |||
3. That this Commission <sic>fulfill</sic> the object of its appointment<lb/> | |||
on Sunday, the 10th inst.<lb/> | |||
These proposed arrangements were adopted by the Assembly.</p> | |||

ought to be done regarding the state of the Colonies presented the<lb/> | |||
result of its deliberations. The Commission ratified its former opinion<lb/> | |||
adding only that the Commissioners of the Government<lb/> | |||
should be authorized to reject any propositions that<lb/> | |||
should be made to them contrary to the liberty & property of<lb/> | |||
the Spanish or European Americans who should remain attached<lb/> | |||
