"worthy of all acceptation"  It is <del>built</del> <add>an undying tree</add> planted in the soil<lb/>
of truth – watered by the blessings of heaven – whose branches<lb/>
will one day, extend their luxuriance over the world.</p>
<p>It was my object to show the literary spirit of<lb/>
christianity.  That our Lord &amp; master had devoted a great<lb/>
deal of his youth to biblical research it would be easy to<lb/>
show from the whole tenor of his discourses.  St. Paul does<lb/>
not scruple to appear to the poets of Greece, &amp; the whole<lb/>
of his writings <del>have</del> <add>are</add> the productions of a master.  The<lb/>
Italians have a tradition that the great apostle was<lb/>
an <del>also great</del> <add>enthusiastic</add> admirer of Virgil, &amp; down to the 15<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> century<lb/>

a hymn in honor of their poet on St. Pauls day.  They</p>
