I wandered long & with a freshening toil
Threading the mists of which the joy wakening glorious conquering seen
Dispersed even like under Did all the mountain pinnacles assail
And bared their upper peaks craggy summits one by one
Throwing his crowns of brightness on their brows
Until I reach'd a understanding resting place – where song
Ascended from the thick & twilight boughs
Which to the nether valley did belong.
I listened – till the flapping of a strong
And glorious wing disturbed me – 'twas an Eagle
Forcing his way to upper air –
