<p>An example taken from our own Law, will<lb/>
 
serve to illustrate the destinations that [<del>have been</del> in<lb/>
 
the course of this Chapter] have been laid down<lb/>
in the course of the present Chapter.  In the<lb/>
late Act which has been already mentioned,<lb/>

"Law on persons committed to a House of Correction<lb/>

Laborious Punishment.

An example taken from our own Law, will
serve to illustrate the destinations that [have been in
the course of this Chapter] have been laid down
in the course of the present Chapter. In the
late Act which has been already mentioned,
for substituting appointing a course of punishment
in lieu of Transportation. The principal punishment
is specific servitude: "the being kept employed in to public work set on foot for the improvement of the navigation of the River Thames.[a]

NOTE

[a] The Offender shall be kept says the Act, "to hard Labour, either in raising
