"years ago, – not to take away the power itself,<lb/> | |||
"though he wished that he could do it – not to charge<lb/> | |||
"the then Attorney General with any corrupt abuse,<lb/> | |||
"but to obtain permission to prove, by evidence at the<lb/> | |||
"Bar of that House, that <hi rend="underline">ex officio</hi> informations had<lb/> | |||
"increased in the proportion of 20 to 1 beyond any other<lb/> | |||
"mode of proceeding, and that out of 20 informations<lb/> | |||
"that were filed, not above two or three were prosecuted?</p> | |||
