I.5 (b) The caution conveyed by this remark will
I hope f (I flatter myself) in addition to the other
caution, render it sufficiently apparent, that
in the proposing of this reference it was no part of my design to obtain any
undue advantage.

I.6 (a) The House, belonging to the Board of
Agriculture, at which Mr Young, then Principal
Secretary of the Board, has an apartment.

Mr Nepean whom I saw with whom I
went with the foregoing letter in my hand, or sooner
soon after, treated my scruples as excessive, and
expressly recommended it to me to go to Mr Young
at once, and state the whole case to him without
reserve. Thence arose my visit to Sackville
Street: but in my own mind, I was
better pleased with the absence, by which the
purity of the transaction would be placed in an a more unquestionable
point of view.

I.6. (b) Honourable Gentlemen have here occurr
as not sharing in the impatience. They had however
been pleased frequently to declare the existence of it
in their own instance, and it did not lie upon me
to contradict them on this occasion, and without
proof.

I.6 (c) Then comes the question, in the same terms
with that in the preceding letter, omitting the words
prisoners or — the words in brackets. This is the
whole of the letter; except a line or two, relative to a
paper, by another person, discovered for the Annals of Agriculture
and having no relation to the present business.
