§. 4. Course for concealing it the obstruction

1.
The more assured the causes
of the sinister sacrifice,
the more anxious
and unremitting the endeavours
to conceal them
from non-sharers. By
action, if sufficient observed,
the demonstration
afforded by it is compleat.
Sole instruments of counter
evidence, words, professions:
actions, circumstantial;
words direct evidence.
Circumstantial
as to existence of the sacrifice,
and parts borne
in it by sacrificers being
conclusive, nothing
is left for establishing
counter belief, but to
deafen ears, blind eyes, and confound understanding,
conception,
judgment, by the direct
evidence in a mass
all-embracing, unanimous,
vehemently and
indefatigably urged. Mendacious
it is in every
instance. But, to the addressed
judges the fact
of the mendacity not being
capable of being rendered
perceptible to bodily
sense have to the
last it will be seen
been unblushingly obtruded.

Phrase commonly used
purity of motives: insinuated
either 1. Self regard
none; or 2. do.
outweighed by national
or universal regard:
preferably, as more
obviously, absence of
self regard. Of This purity
in it's most perfect form,
each man predicates
most strenously of
himself. Hesitate to admit
it, you offer him an affront,
which perhaps he
proposes to wash away
in your blood. So of his
colleagues & supporters.
Special provocation or
prospect of advantage
excepted, not uncommonly
even of men
on the other side.
Thus obtained, praise
of candour, and hope of
counter-acknowledgment
for price thus
paid in advance. No
rulers too corrupt to
receive this acknowledgment.
For as it
might seem too incredible
that the purity shd.
be always on one side,
hence, to gain credence
for it themselves, many
admitt it in opponents.

At the expence of truth
is all this candour displayed
– this self worship
and adversary worship
practised. But the
more irrefragable the
proof of the mendacity,
the more urgent the demand
for it. Thus are
men of all sides continually
compelled to join
in inculcating errors and
falshoods opposite to the
most important truths,
in causing men to believe
that in the most
highly corrupt atmosphere,
temptation at
it's maximum, so at
all times is incorruption.

Thus saying rule-craft,
what says Truth?
1. In spite of every thing
said, self preference –
preference of self regard
to regard for every
thing else is demonstrated
by every thing in such
situations done.
2. Indispensable condition
is this self preference
to specie's existence.
3. In the ordinary time line of life,
in breasts of ordinary
mould, self every thing,
all things and persons else,
nothing: if self sacrifice
is made, it is to individuals
known, not to multitudes
undefined & unknown
so far from being a fit
subject of denial, or
cause of regret, this preference
shd. be a cause of
satisfaction as being necessary
to well being
as to being: while
