22. G. 3. c. 64. §. 8.

In that by the terms of this question, to the security supposed
to be afforded furnished by the eye of the Governor or Keeper being added thus coupled
with the security supposed to be afforded furnished by the eyes of his
servants, the answer which to this part of the question I
gave immediately gave in the affirmative was an answer
which it was impossible for me to avoid giving consistently
with truth.

The question security here stated it will be seen contained involved in it, it well may
already have been observed two very perfectly distinct different howsoever
accidentally associated checks: viz. that constituted by the eye of the
Governor, and that constituted by the eyes of th his servants.
Of the complexity of it I was not even at the moment altogether
unaware: but by the same question my answer being
required to on another subject of much more immediate importance,
thence it was that my thoughts attention as well
as my hope even
immediately closed
I I am now taking the liberty
of
against the observation which I am now taking the
liberty to submit to the consideration of the Committee.
