Logic or Nomography or Form? – Law Amendmt &c
Principle – use of the word. It is one of those instruments
of abbreviation which, at the least expence of words
serve to be among give expression conveyance to make communication of the import of
an entire proposition. In this way it is subservient to
conciseness.
But to render it subservient to clearness it should
be accompanied with a definition: and this definition
will be the proposition to which for the sake of conciseness
