Parly Reform Sinecures

For coming at the truth in each instance, the following
therefore seems to be the most suitable promising likely course: –
let notice it be generally understood be given that as indeed it would of course be
given that abolition and with compensation was the purpose
for which the information is required.

Thus Here then all the moneys received would of course
be exposed to view: since whatsoever failed of
being thus exhibited would be so much loss.

Proof, appropriate proof, would of course be required.
But whereever the alledged receipt was real, proof
would of course be forthcoming: proof afforded by the
entries made at the respective times in the official
books. Suppose for argument sake any alledged article any article of which no such proof
were to be found the in respect of that article the claim
could not but be disallowed: for, being destitute of the
proper and ordinary forms of belief, affirmation though
it were upon oath were could scarce be said to possess
any claim to credit credence. The loss in such case the
loss that would come to would indeed be a consequence
of the neglect, but not a punishment for it, not being inflicted
in any that such view.
