As to the liberty of the press & of public descriptions – &
to freedom of Trade & restoration in it by whatever name they are
called, I am entirely & wholly of Bentham's opinion
And as to the springs of action without being able to seek examine
at present as to the exact value of this of pain &
pleasure which Bentham has developed I am altogether
convinced that a well understood self-interest is the only true
basis of a sound morality
