Constitut. Code.

2. Now as to intellectual aptitude.

That in other hands if intellectual aptitude take at
large in other hands might be found in which a much greater
if appropriate intellectual aptitude, in this shape supposing the application
made of it not regarded, a much greater share than in the
hands here in question can not but be acknowledged. But in
whatsoever breast lodged to what end will this branch of aptitude be applied?
of course to the maximization of the quantity of felicity in the breast and thence
of the external instruments of felicity in the hands of the
individuals themselves by whom the intellectual aptitude is in question in question is possessed.

But in the hand In particular that which can not but be acknowledged
is – that of the question of and interest was in view and consideration of interests
and ends pursuit be laid out of the question among the persons
by whom a higher degree of intellectual aptitude will be pr generally
speaking be possessed, than by the weaker here proposed possessors
of the Supreme Constitutive authority proposed creators of all other authorities the branch in which a much considerably higher degree larger share of intellectual power may reasonably
be looked for often in those here proposed, are the very persons
just now designated by the name appellation of natural concerns
of all the greatest number of those whose greatest happiness is
the end professedly and actually in view the object of pursuit. What is the
consequence? that by this excess of intellectual power or aptitude
be it what it may so far from being the greatest happiness of the
greatest number so far from receiving proportionate encrease, will
sustain experience proportionate diminution: and that thus, in other
words, by this excess of appropriate relative intellectual aptitude in hands breasts
so situated, the quantity of aggregate quantity of appropriate
aptitude in all its shapes taken together so far from receiving encrease
will experience diminution: of this excess so applied the effect
will be the addition of a negative instead of a positive quantity to an aggregate of mathematical quantities,
in the place instead of positive quantity, in an operative of mathematics.
