Laws may be divided into Distributive Attributive
Distributive are
Attributive are such as attribute to certain
persons something de novo originally, [of whi from a general
fund, to which neither they had no original pretensions but
by the Laws here spoken of] for which they have
no competitors: And this in contemplation of merit
or demerit by something specific done.
Distributive, are such as
That which they attribute The something attributed, takes the name, according
as it is something painful or pleasurable,
of Punishment or of Reward.
Distributive are such as distribute certain
objects of aversion or desire between competitors
not in without contemplation of merit or demerit.
That which they distribute, according as it is the
object of desire aversion viz: as it is painful unpleasant, or of
desire, viz: pleasurable, may takes the name of
Burthen or Advantage.
These objects may be distinguished into such
as are susceptible of subjectible to a possession: 1 Strict Concrete
Real Actual, & Natural† † viz. Goods whether moveable & Immoveable. 2d Improper Imaginary
Artificial – Abstract & Conventional, viz. Offices and Dignities.
