<p>Four <hi rend="underline">rays of light</hi> are now drawing into a <hi rend="underline">focus</hi> –<lb/>

<p>Now then, Sir – since the time is come – let me<lb/>
prefer this my humble <hi rend="underline">prayer</hi> – (for <hi rend="underline">hope</hi> is another thing)<lb/>
– that through some channel, which a man <hi rend="underline">may</hi> trust to<lb/>
without ruin, I may at length be made acquainted with<lb/>
their Lordship's <hi rend="underline">real</hi> pleasure.</p>
<p>In a moment of expansion, you once did me the<lb/>
honour to express to me a very decided opinion respecting<lb/>
the strength of Lord Belgrave's influence.  The opinion conveyed<lb/>
to me, on the part of his Lordship, <hi rend="underline">very lately</hi>, on<lb/>
the <hi rend="underline">same</hi> subject, is as opposite as possible.  If it be just –<lb/>
<hi rend="underline"><gap/> voilá</hi> (French language can alone do justice to French<lb/>
faith) <hi rend="underline">Me voilá une fois, au status quo de</hi> 1794. –<lb/>
The Cabinet Minister's influence<hi rend="superscript">(b)</hi> (more than once, and<lb/>
to more than one person you have confessed it –) was then<lb/>
too great:– but what was that to <add>that of</add> the simple Privy<lb/>
Councillor?  What is the <hi rend="underline">stoppage</hi> of a purchase, to the<lb/>
<hi rend="underline">rescinding</hi> of it? – What is the stoppage of Public Money,<lb/>
to the <hi rend="underline">squandering</hi> it?</p>
<p><del>Their <gap/> of despair was stopped by<lb/>
purchase.  The <gap/> which had <gap/><lb/>
the first instance of interference on the<lb/>
part of the <gap/>, was not yet <gap/><lb/>
