Political Deontology

§. Motions by which men are led to the invention and reap
of a system of political deontology founded deduced on the principle
of utility applied on an all-comprehensive scale.

In the manner and with the limitations above explained, my sympathy embraces
the whole population of the country in which I live, and
for which in a manner degree more particular than for
any other I write.

In like manner my desire of reputation, ie.
of receiving resp tokens of affection and respect extends
to all: duration the same, the greater the number
of the individuals from in whose breasts it were to happen
to me to believe that affections sentiments of that nature
visited as towards me, the greater the satisfaction I
would receive.

On this double foundation By and in proportion
to conjunct and affection the operation of these two causes is the perfection
of the degree in which the influence of the all comprehensive extra-regarding universal interest is iden
in my breast identified with that of self-regarding
interest.

In a country such as that in which I write
there can not but be a number of persons more
or less considerable of individuals in those of breasts
in a degree more or less considerable the like effects
are continually produced by the like causes. It is to them alone
that I can address myself with any hope of
succeeding in any degree in the production of those
effects which it is my endeavour to produce
or promote the production of.
