As in the case in question the thing sought
the desideratum is a book, the I should humbly
conceive that the best as to any positive qualifications
that may be requisite the best presumption proof
that can be given of a man's possessing them
that can be given is (his having written such
another) a book of his writing relative to the same
subject, and which if it be well written will
shews him to have mastered all the difficulties
which such a work is attended with, besides other
greater difficulties which it is not attended with.

of many disadvantages which it would be impertinent
to mention alledge state or even to allude to I have written this
book such as it is: with task encouragement
especially such as the acceptance of this proposal
would afford me, I should be able to write I am certain a much
better.
