portraits of each of them.  <add>For</add> The <del>life</del> <add>best Biography</add> of Kosciuszko<lb/>
<del>was a</del> the University of Warsaw assigned a prize<lb/>
<del>some</del> <add>about 3</add> years ago.  It must have been written<lb/>
and printed till this time.  It would have been<lb/>
better, had that Biography  been printed at<lb/>
the very creation of that present Kingdom of Poland<lb/>
for at that time the liberty of the press was not<lb/>
so <add>much</add> restricted as it is now.  Some periodical writings<lb/>
on political subjects gave umbrage to the government<lb/>
the consequence of which was the restrictions laid upon the press</p>
