Stratus

When from the face of the silent expanse of water
A mist lifts up its flat carpet
The moon, mingled with the verge of the apparition form
Seems like a spirit fashioning spirits
Then we are all – & that we must acknowledge feel alone ()
Quickened - transported - children – O nature
Than it mounts up to the mountain, gathering wide
Streaks upon streaks, & darkness far
The middle height ( midway) & there con-mingled
It falls in water, or it soars in air

Cumulus

And when in this to the higher atmosphere
The (fit existence) were called
It stands high as the clouds, – are holding its sublimest station
Announcing (itself) – firmly sealed – in the power of strength
And what you fear – & what you experience
As its threatens above – so it trembles below
