There gently leadest us – & & dost forward – so dispense
Thro' yielding hearts Thy holy influence
Subduing all to Thee, – however drear
With ideas doubts & darkness be our journey here
We turn our eyes to Thee, & light divine
Spreads sweetly round us – & that land of Thine
The promised land, looks thro' o'er-looks this scene of woe
Like northern lights above the hills of snow
A thousand different path-ways thither tend
All centering in that bright, that blessed end
And he who struggles for that prize of bliss
Sincerely & devoutly cannot miss.

Spirit of kindness! – whom our honor'd Lord
As God & Father – sacred name! – ador'd
In spirit & in truth to Thee I bring
The accepted tho' the lovely offering; I praise Thee that now enfranchised from the yoke
Of terror, I approach Thee, – & can look
With humble Servent confidence to Thee
