<p>5.  That the effect of a <hi rend="underline">defalcation</hi>, if copious<lb/>
 
and sudden, from the mass of money in circulation,<lb/>
 
would be productive of more pressure, as<lb/>
well as more danger <del>to</del> in respect of general<lb/>
Bankruptcy, than an excessive <hi rend="underline">addition</hi> to the same<lb/>
amount:  and that <del><gap/></del> if <del><gap/></del> such addition<lb/>
were to have the effect of bringing on such a<lb/>
catastrophe, a sudden and copious defalcation<lb/>
would be among the first effects of the <del>defalcation</del> <add>addition</add><lb/>
and <add>immediate</add> causes of the catastrophe.</p>
<p>6.  That a <add>simple</add> stoppage of the encrease of money<lb/>
by <del><gap/></del> Bank and Bankers paper money, would<lb/>
at once stop the rise of prices,<hi rend="superscript">⊞</hi> <note><hi rend="superscript">⊞</hi> (taken in the aggregate,)</note> and dispell the<lb/>
danger of <add>General</add> Bankruptcy:  nor would it be productive<lb/>
of any inconvenience, beyond <del>what</del> the<lb/>
particular inconvenience <del>of stopping</del> <add>resulting from the stoppage of</add> the current of<lb/>
pernicious gains.</p>
<p>7.  That, as to the proposed Government Annuity-Note<lb/>
paper, <del>if it constituted <add>were to constitute</add> any <gap/> addition<lb/>
to the quantity of money in circulation</del> so far<lb/>
as <del>it cause</del> in the <del>quality</del> character of circulating<lb/>
money it <hi rend="underline">came in lieu</hi> of an equal quantity<lb/>
of the existing sorts of private paper, it would,<lb/>
besides the <del>benefit</del> <add>profit to Government</add> by reduction of the national<lb/>
debt and other items, contribute to reduce the<lb/>
danger in respect to particular Bankruptcies.</p>

5. That the effect of a defalcation, if copious
and sudden, from the mass of money in circulation,

and immediate causes of the catastrophe.

particular inconvenience of stopping resulting from the stoppage of the current of

7. That, as to the proposed Government Annuity-Note
paper, if it constituted were to constitute any addition
to the quantity of money in circulation
so far
as it cause in the quality character of circulating
money it came in lieu of an equal quantity
of the existing sorts of private paper, it would,
besides the benefit profit to Government by reduction of the national
debt and other items, contribute to reduce the
danger in respect to particular Bankruptcies.
