&sect;. 1.</head></p>
 
<p>Art. 1.  Correspondent to each judicial mandate<lb/>
is an aggregate of judicial excuses.  Of that <add>those services</add> which <unclear>which</unclear><lb/>
in respect of its conduciveness to the ends of justice it is desirable<lb/>
should be done, there is not any <add>one</add> thing that at all times<lb/>
by every person in <add>on</add> whose instance <add>part</add> it is desirable can be<lb/>
done.</p>
<p>Art. 2.  Of a <hi rend="underline">judicial excuse</hi> <del>the effect</del> in so far as valid<lb/>
the effect is – to do away altogether, or to <del><gap/></del> make<lb/>
deduction more or less considerable from the weight or say the amount<lb/>
of the burthen in respect of satisfaction or punishment<lb/>
or both <add>to</add> which but for the allowance given to the excuse, the non-complying<lb/>
party would be subjected.</p>
<p>Art. 3.  To be productive of this saving effect an excuse<lb/>
must possess two requisite properties or say qualities<lb/>
1. In point of law it must be well and sufficiently <add>adequately</add> grounded<lb/>
2. In point of fact it must be adequately correct, comprehensive<lb/>
and clearly expressed.</p>
<p>Art. 4.  To be adequately grounded in point of law the fact<lb/>
alledged as constitutive of an <add>the</add> excuse must be of the number<lb/>
of the species of facts herein indicated as invested with that<lb/>
quality – designed to be productive of that effect.</p>

Ch. Judicial Excuses
§. 1.

Art. 1. Correspondent to each judicial mandate
is an aggregate of judicial excuses. Of that those services which which
in respect of its conduciveness to the ends of justice it is desirable
should be done, there is not any one thing that at all times
by every person in on whose instance part it is desirable can be
done.

Art. 2. Of a judicial excuse the effect in so far as valid
the effect is – to do away altogether, or to make
deduction more or less considerable from the weight or say the amount
of the burthen in respect of satisfaction or punishment
or both to which but for the allowance given to the excuse, the non-complying
party would be subjected.
