Constitutional Procedure Code.Costs

As it is in regard to personal, so is it in regard the possessors to written and sworn
real testimony. Endless as well as fruitless may be the visits paid by them by
Attorney: and so ever his , prudence must be
singularly deficient in
him, if in such sort as
to hurt his character
his then treachery is discovered
and made and made
manifest.

Upon the whole, made how sad is the condition
of a party in the right, when instead of communicating
by the hand with the Judge in person
he is driven to have recourse to the assistance of other
he has under the necessity necessity of having recourse to
the assistance of middle men for carrying on the intercourse.

The Paid Gratuitous or mercenary the middle man has
no such
possesses not in relation to "percipient witness", any or
possession of ready written a source of real evidence, any
such power as the Judge possesses. The gratuitous assistant
having no interest in injuring depriving him has no inclination so
to do but is without power to serve him: the mercenary
assistant, not only is without has no power to serve him, but his
sinister interest is prompted from first to last to deprive him, and for
so doing has ample power in his hands, has power
in abundance.

Thus it is that under the hitherto established
systems, never can a party litigant give support to his own cause
without throwing himself in the hands of a host of assistants, nor amongst those have one
who is not by the irresistible power of unchangeable situation is not rendered
his natural and irreconciliable enemy. And what at last
is his situation when at last after having run the gauntlet through them by them to he is suffered for the first
time to behold the countenance of the Judge? He then
Thus it is that he finds himself at the mercy of a
man who with more power is as much his enemy as
any of them, linked leagued with them in a community of
sinister interest, and of the sinister sympathy which it
generates – a man at the head of that class tribe by the
power of which they have been rendered what they are
and from the powers and designs machinations of which the power they have of
injuring and plundering him has been derived.
