Constitutl. or Procedure Code. Ch. XXII Professional Lawyers

In a great degree any where Professional will
be and hurt, as Natives are now in France &c.

§ Present at in the Justice Chamber with the party should be the professional
assistant – with the professional assistant the party.

Another reason why it is with a view to the minimization
of delay vexation and expence it is of importance
that the party and his professional assistance should in the
presence of each other be as much as may be in the presence
of the Judge, is this namely that by no distrust
on any of their accounts can the party be afflicted, but
the professional assistant will not only be fully apprised
of it but by the Judge and the whole auditory be seen to
be so.

In natural practice and in a more expert manner
in English-bred English technical practice such is the state of things
in this respect is the state of things, that in the part of the
most efficient of all the classes of professional assistance
to wit the pleading Advocate, hardness of heart is maximized.
Between the wretched party and the Judge by who
his fate is disposed of, two mari two different
classes of person both of whose interests are in their
particular in a state of diametrical opposition to his own, in
every instance . Thus he has no common interest.
Scarce in any instance is any sinister profit made by
either, that has not the other for a sharer in it.
To the Advocate into whose pocket the last piece of gold perhaps
that the Client could find means to raise has found its
way, the compleatly unknown is the distrust of with which the
raising extraction of it has been productive.

Woe betide the unhappy Client whose anxiety has forced him its
way out of the presence of he a first rate Advocate: were any such
admitted none of the Advocate
if he profits would be thus .
in every shape – every thing that is most repulsive is on
his part
a necessary measure &
necessary self-defence.
