Dear Sam Your last which informed me of the advantagious appointment
your Friend Mr Davis had obtained, & in
manner, gave us great pleasure, as we are truly sensible of his
merit — which is much more flattering from the Prospects
it opens to him, than the immediate benefit likely
to result from it — I am sensible your regard for him
is such that you cou'd not receive more satisfaction
from any Event how favourable so ever to yourself —
