To gain credit indeed for such strictness, may perhaps
have been within his view: to gain credit the reputation of it <add>to obtain the reputation; so far, but</add>, were so far
onlyas could be done so far only as a man might obtain credit for it without deserving earning it. Accordingly when no sooner
the act is spoken of is the act spoken of as as that what is i.e. might to be, might to be a judicial
act, Good;- but no sooner is it spoken of in that character, than no more the judi its title to that same character is immediately
explained away, viz. by the description given of it.

if unfortunately pressed with any such question as how
came you to do so? - no a grave and solemn
affirmer - with eyes lifteduplifted up to heaven, and this Such is the security such the only security which the Reverend judges learned and both hands are ever so ready to give.
