Dear Bentham,
I fully intended writing
to you from Pool; but the delay, I trust,
is immaterial, & the occasion of it has
been a little business, & a great deal of
correspondence caused by the birth of a little
daughter.
No plea for the Poorhouse is yet
formal, nor are they yet supposed to receive
proposals, tho' they have begun to make
bricks, &, I think, to collect some other
materials: but they are principally
employed in ascertaining the numbers
for which it must be calculated, which
