Apparatus for generating Airs.
Sir
The following is an account of a little slight alteration
I contrived in the apparatus for generating
Airs: I have put it in practised with success.][
M is the phial wherein the mixture
is to be made. It serves
 as a magazine for the
 menstruum: the solvend
 And which I put into
 being dropped in occasionally
it in the first place. I call it the Mixing Phial.
 B is the Cork
 The which
D C is the Cork with two holes through it.
In one of them is fixed inserted the neck of a Glass Bubble B blown in
form of a Retort. [+][+] The neck is bent to a right angle with the body. This serves as a Magazine
for the Metal or other body in powder which is
to supply the Air. I call it the Athanor
from its use being analogous to that of (that of a part which characterizes
 the furnace
of that name. ][
Into the other hole through of the Cork is inserted the
tube that T for conveying the Air as in the common method to the Receiver
where it is to be lodged. I call it the Tube
 of Communication. ][
The Athanor may be The body of the Athanor lying horizontally may be more than half filled with
the powder: and the filling may performed after it's can be
insertion in to the Cork as well as before.
[+] [+] It would be more convenient when could the neck of the Athanor be a flexible one: it would not then be limited in size: nor liable to break with its own weight. The Cork is cemented paid on the outside with a cement
to guard it from the Acids in Bees Wax make the junctures Air tight: and on the inside
for the <add> further purpose of guarding it against the Acids.
