Emancipate Preface

At the hands of the people of the foreign dependency, with
much stronger and more reasonable assurance may endeavour
toward the dissolution of this mutually disastrous convention I
looked for them in the hands of the mutual enemy in the ruling
country.

1. To their case no such instrument of fascination and illusions
as the idea of being sharers possessing in the pernicious power has any
application.

2. Subjection in all its grating forms, submission
and obedience obsequiousness passive active, is
the only part which the connection ever gives
them to act.-

3. As often as any competition of interests
has place, or is supposed to have place - as
often as any sacrifice is supposed to be requisite,
and is accordingly required, well do they know
on which said it is to be made:- that in this compound
and complex government of the two interests thus
forced together theirs is the one that will be
preferably consulted, can not be so much
as pretended.

4. In the ruling Country, among the subject
many any endeavour towards a dissolution of
the disastrous connection would naturally find
opposed to it the whole force of the constituted authorities
in expectancy as well as in possession
