It is now so long since I have had any Letter<lb/>
It is now so long since I have had any letter from my son, and the uncertainty I am under how to convey any thing to him is so great, that I hope you will have the goodness to excuse the liberty I take in venturing to trespass upon your known friendship for him, to beg a passport from you for the letter which accompaneys this, in hopes you may have an opportunity of forwarding it to him at ...., thro' the favour of Prince Potempkin, or some one or other of his Connections, as I understand, by our public Prints, that his Highness is now at Petersburgh; where I doubt not but he will receive the gracious acknowledgements of the Empress for the glorious success of his late exploits; of some of which, if I am not misinformed, my son has had the happiness of being an eye witness, if he has no otherwise partaken of the hazard and danger attending there. Give me leave, my dear sir, to embrace this portunity, to acknowledge the obligation I am under to you for your kindness, in giving yourself
