Objects.

1.o The Preservation of Animal and
Vegetable Substances from all species of Spontaneous decomposition:
- as, Fermentation, Putrefaction, Mouldiness &c.

2o. Regulation of natural processes depending
on particular temperatures.

Means.-

General Idea - Decomposotion can only be prevented by
strengthening the Quiescent, & weakening the Divellent
Affinities. This may be accomplished by

I Regulation of Heat. by {Frigidarim and Balneum
{Tepidarium
in which are to be considered

1. Sources of Cold

2. Sources of Heat

3. Economy of Temperature {in a quiescent state
{during manipulations

4. Preservation of Uniformity and Steadiness of Temperature

5. Instruments, &c.

II. Exclusion of Moisture by

1. Exsiccation

2. Preventing the reabsorption of Moisture.

III. Exclusion of Air by

1. Balneum

2. Various Niduses

3. Vacuum

IV. Addition of Antisepptic Agents V. Pressure
