Delay
It is a misfortune to , when propositions which from this
matter they includeinclose are past into axioms, are constructed in
such a manner as to become readily convertible into arms for the defence
of error:
Delay [is] favourable to Liberty Delay solicitors? No such thingv. Barrington — Delay as
such, is productive of a thousand inconveniences, & of no
one advantage — say that the salutary expedients necessary to be
put in force for the guarding of Liberty are necessarily productive
of delay a certain degree of,& you say true — But the delay itself
is and ever will be an evil — an evil indeed less than the
good which is clogged with it, but still an evil
let us preserve the good in it's full entirety but let us never cease pairing never part from the good, but let us pare away the
evil as as possible.
