If for argument sake it be uncertain whether the
case is that there is no d legal definition of a
libel, , or whether the case is that there is a legal
definition of a libel but such an one as is incompatible
with liberty in manner above mentioned
the a Jury are still more clearly at liberty in
point of conscience and it is still more clearly
their duty as well as interest to act as if there
were no law law at constituting the publication of a libel making a libel an offence,
and in consequence in the case of every such
prosecution to pronounce give a verdict of not guilty.

If a Juryman it be the opinion of a Juryman ,
as it is mine , that there exists nothing on
this subject which is entitled to the denomination appellation
of a law or rule of law , he may not only without any
breach of his oath join in every instance in
giving a verdict of not guilty , and but and he is bound
by his oath either to do so, [or to f join in finding
a special verdict.]

a rule law or rule of law , but that that law or
