§. 13.
Art. 1. Extortion is where, by intimidation
not amounting to a threat of immediate
death or other bodily harm in case of non-compliance,
a person obtains, by consent of the menacee the
possession of some subject matter of property
with intent to covert the same to his own
(use (for a time or forever.)
Extortion insidious
or say indirect
N.B. insidious extortion or say indirect
extortion. As where A. has a picture very dear to
him, worth 100£ B lends A. fifty pounds, with a
view to get the picture, and afterwards, when A. is
in distress, calls upon him for the money, or refuses
to lend him more, without A. will part with the
