<p><head>Ch. or &sect;  Presence banishment – its nature and uses and<lb/>

<p>Art. 1.  <add>In regard to satisfaction</add> Except in so far as <add><del>movement</del> is</add> excessive, <add>by</add> whomsoever<lb/>
wrong has been <del>sustained</del> <add><del>suffered</del> done, satisfaction</add> compensation should be<lb/>
afforded.</p>
<p>Art. 2.  In regard to <add>satisfaction and</add> punishment <add>taken together</add>, if in any<lb/>
instance the burthen attached to the affording satisfaction<lb/>
and suffering punishment taken together is outweighed by<lb/>
the profit of the offence, the law by which that same<lb/>
burthen is attached operates as a licence, authorizing<lb/>

<p>Art. 3.  Presence banishment affords a means<lb/>
<del>of suffer</del> and that the only means, of affording satisfaction,<lb/>
and that in many cases <add>and such as in many instances will prove</add> adequate, in divers cases<lb/>
to a considerable extent, in which by other means <add>either</add> no<lb/>
satisfaction at all or no adequate satisfaction could<lb/>
be afforded.</p>
<p>Art. 4.  Presence-banishment affords a means<lb/>
and that a sure one, of taking away altogether the profit<lb/>
of the offence and substituting loss to an adequate degree<lb/>
and even to a degree made more than adequate to<lb/>
the profit of the offence – in cases – <del><gap/></del> of an <add>highly</add> important<lb/>
nature, and to a very considerable extent –<lb/>
in which <del><gap/></del> under all laws as yet in existence<lb/>
a person who will be content to subject himself to a<lb/>
certain risk for the purchase of it, may to a certainty<lb/>
possess himself of the profit sought by his offence.</p>

§. Presence Banished banishment

Ch. or § Presence banishment – its nature and uses and
mode of application.

Art. 1. In regard to satisfaction Except in so far as movement is excessive, by whomsoever
wrong has been sustained suffered done, satisfaction compensation should be
afforded.

Art. 2. In regard to satisfaction and punishment taken together, if in any
instance the burthen attached to the affording satisfaction
