though he did not carry the nicety of his distinctions
near so far as Dr. Biest. One thing is now
established — that the degree of what little disorder
is left, depends upon temperature. Increase of heat
always increases it, diminution always diminishes
it. In consequence, I profit by every opportunity
of taking the air-bath; and for about
half an hour or three quarters of an hour every
day, while washing, cleansing my eyes, and performing
other parts of my toilet, I remain in
a state of nudity, except as to the lower extremities.
But my apartment being warmed by
steam, the temperature during the operation
has sometimes been as high as 62 of Farenheit
never yet below 52 — commonly about a medium
between the two. I had understood from
Dr. Armstrong that he had been trying to persuade
Mr Watson to give publicity to his regimen
and with some appearance of success, but I have
never heard that this has been done.
